Atlas Of The Historical Geography Of The United States

THC stumbled across this atlas which he had not known existed.  It was published in 1932 and composed by Charles O Paullin and edited by John K Wright and recently made available online by the University of Richmond.  Containing over 700 maps on subjects including Cartography, Indians, Explorations, Settlement, Elections, Military History, Population and Industrialization it is a treasure trove of information beautifully presented.  You should take a look.  The video below provides some more background and visuals.

Charles O Paullin (1869-1944) was a naval historian and was for many years on the research staff of the Carnegie Institute.  John K Wright (1891-1969) was the librarian for the American Geographical Society.  Their Atlas won the Loubat Prize, established by Columbia University and awarded every five years for the best social sciences work about North America.
